Blind Squirrel Productions – Looking for a NUT!

Hello Everyone:
Blind Squirrel productions is a team of teachers who produce documentary films for use in and out of the classroom. Back a few years ago (four to be exact), our school began a sister school relationship with the
Kamehameha Schools in Honolulu, Hawai`i. Now you might say, how did a school in New Hampshire connect with a school in Hawai`i? Well, our two regions are deeply connected through the history of the Congregational Missionaries that evangelized Hawai`i in the 1820’s. In our project with Kamehameha, we established a virtual classroom for students to share this history and their thoughts and ideas. As a part of that virtual classroom we began to produce short documentaries on New Hampshire History and Culture. We started out with Apple Picking, President Franklin Pierce, and the Manchester Mills. Soon we branched out and began to do documentaries about our Hawaiian Exchange Program and historical background to the plays our school was doing. We began with The Crucible, a fifteen minute look at the history and relevance of that production. Well, it has grown and now we are working on larger projects, partnering with New Hampshire Public Television, creating websites with them for our projects, and creating curriculum around our work. It has been quite a journey for a bunch of teachers and students, but it has been a fullfilling collaboration that has brought us in contact with hundreds of people and we look forward to meeting hundreds and thousands more. These pages look to serve as a travel log of the people and places we have met and will meet along the way. We hope it inspires, informs and intrigues you as you follow the Blind Squirrel as it keeps “Lookin’ for a Nut.”
